Do The Math

This is a campaign in response to the failure of Ontario’s provincial government to recognize that cutting social assistance rates is doing absolutely nothing for their beloved budget requirements long term, as children and families who already struggle to make ends meet fall deeper into the cavern of poverty. In turn, we will see a new generation of children who do poorly in school (as a result of malnutrition), who do not reach their full potential, who contract chronic illnesses (a direct result of obesity, propelled by years of cheap, poor food choices – are they a choice when you have no other choice?), and who cost the tax payer exponentially more than what it would entail in keeping social assistance rates stabilized and reflective of living expenses. The inability of the government to “do the math” since math was a scary subject in school and many MP’s are “insecure” about this, has led to a disastrous consequence. Please go to the link and show the government how to crunch numbers.

About danirenouf

I have been a registered dietitian since 2003, and very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in industry, clinical nutrition, public health, and private practice. Currently, I am extremely excited about pursuing entrepreneurial ventures which start with my private consulting practice and branch out into the food and culinary industry. I am busy every day developing my own food products and recipes, adapting traditional cooking techniques and incorporating new and innovative ways to prepare nutritious, delicious food. I am passionate about everything food-related, and aspire to engage others in "getting to know their food" - not all of us are cooks, or need to be, but all of us need to eat.

Hahaha, I like the part about the insecurities! It’s so rediculous how short term our government is. All they care about is cutting money now instead of how investing in prevention will save ten fold later!

    Dear Dani,

As a vegan, I think conventional prebiotic supplements aren’t an option, neither is yogurt. What are your thoughts on sauerkraut on aiding in digestion?
